Description: TAFE NSW is offering a short course in Basic Barista Skills. This will give you the experience and confidence that you need to apply for the job you would like or start to gain experience in a career that you are interested in. In this course you will learn how to handle food in a healthy way and how to prepare and serve a range of coffees.This is a practical hands on class in a simulated industry environment. This skill set will also give you 2 units that may go towards further study in the Hospitality industry. 
Entry requirements: All participants enrolling in to this course will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) - www. usi.gov.au 
Learning pathways: Certificate III or IV in Hospitality Training Packages 
Career opportunities: Barista work in a Cafe or Restaurant

About: TAFE NSW is now offering a short course in Basic Coffee Barista Skills. This course is designed to help you gain employment in a Restaurant, Café or anywhere coffee preparation is essential. This course includes Use Hygiene Practices for Food Safety and Prepare and Serve Espresso Coffee. Through this course you will learn the basics needed to make a range of coffee as well as food safety requirements. This is a practical hands on class in a simulated industry environment.

This course will run for three days, Monday 4, Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 December 2017 at Nowra Campus commencing at 9:30am. Please go to Block A, Destiny’s Bar.
Cancellations should be advised in writing more than 7 days prior to commencement of the course to be eligible for a full refund. For cancellations advised within 7 days of the course no refund will be made however a substitute delegate may attend. If a substitute delegate is to attend you must contact us before the course commences. There are no fee exemptions available for commercial courses. Course fees cannot be refunded to participants who are unable to attend for reasons beyond TAFE NSW control. TAFE NSW reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient numbers and will endeavour to give participants as much notice as possible. Upon cancellation by TAFE NSW a full refund is made.
Applying and enrolling: Before you enrol you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Fee explanatory text: Please enrol and pay the fee at least 7 days prior to the start date to secure your place. The fee for this course is $300.

Recognition:
Recognition is the process by which you can demonstrate you already have the skills or competencies taught in a unit or qualification. It is the recognition of the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained through previous studies, work and life in general. Put simply, it means if you can demonstrate you already have the skills and experience you can complete a part or a whole qualification without needing to attend classes.

There are two types of Recognition:
• Credit Transfer, which allows you to receive credit for unit/s of competency previously successfully completed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
