Students will need access to a computer (at least i5 processor, 4GM RAM and 1GB video card), broadband connection, router, networked printer, scanner, Adobe Connect and other relevant technologies such as Microsoft Office. Also it would be advantageous for students to have access to a complex multi-server IT business environment at administrator level (eg. database administrator) but it is not a requirement for the course.”

Volume of Learning:
Your learning commitment (known as the volume of learning) for this qualification is a minimum of 715 hours. This includes approximately 297 of face to face training. You will need to allocate the remaining hours to engage in a range of activities to support your learning which may include;
• Independent study
• Work placement or simulated workplace activities
• Research and projects
• Preparation of assessment tasks
• Field/industry visits
• Tutorials
• Learning support

Required student skills This is a advanced level network administration course. Students will need to be proficient in using multi-server networks, protocols, network terminology, Windows based operating system including file maniuplation, hardware and software usage, advanced word processing, spreadsheets, documentation development and internet research.

If you do apply for a VET Student Loan you will need to have your Tax File Number (TFN) handy. If you do not have a TFN you can apply for one through most Australia Post outlets, and obtain a Certificate of Application for a TFN. Once you receive your TFN from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) you must contact your college so they can arrange for you to enter it into your VET Student Loan application.

• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is an assessment process of your previous skills, knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of the course you are enrolled.
